Appellate Practice
A particular hallmark of TLJ’s practice is its commitment to excellence in the appellate arena, where success on behalf of clients frequently requires the ability to clarify and synthesize complex facts (and sometimes a very lengthy trial record) in an effective way, and always demands rigorous factual accuracy, top-flight research and analytical skills, and concise, clear, and persuasive written advocacy. TLJ regularly represents clients in federal and state appellate courts nationwide, either as a continuation of its handling of an existing matter at the trial court level or in its frequent role as appellate counsel in high-stakes and/or highly complex cases handled by other counsel below. TLJ’s lawyers, over the course of their careers, have appeared in virtually every federal circuit court of appeals and in dozens of state appellate courts across the country, handling appeals in insurance coverage and bad faith cases, commercial disputes, and other types of litigation.
