Michael Steinberg’s practice focuses on insurance coverage litigation and counseling insurance industry clients with respect to coverage issues regarding specialty insurance products, including directors and officers, errors and omissions and other professional liability policies. Mr. Steinberg has litigated matters in federal and state courts across the country, where he has successfully briefed and argued a wide variety of substantive and procedural motions, and has assisted clients in achieving successful resolutions of business disputes through mediation and arbitration and informal negotiations.
Prior to joining Thompson, Loss & Judge in 2009, Mr. Steinberg was an associate at Hogan & Hartson LLP, where he was a member of that firm’s insurance coverage and complex litigation groups. Mr. Steinberg was involved in several pro bono matters at his prior firm and was one of the lead members of a team of attorneys who successfully obtained a permanent injunction prohibiting the implementation of a 2008 United States Department of Interior rule that would have permitted the carrying of loaded and concealed weapons in National Parks and federal wildlife refuges.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Steinberg was a law clerk to The Honorable Stephen H. Glickman of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and during law school was an intern in the chambers of The Honorable Colleen Kollar-Kotelly of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Mr. Steinberg has served as a Professorial Lecturer in Law at the George Washington University School of Law, where he taught Legal Research and Writing and Introduction to Advocacy.
Before attending law school, Mr. Steinberg served as a regional finance coordinator for the Democratic National Committee and was a member of the finance staff of the 53rd Presidential Inaugural Committee.
